Mary Jo Draper wrote the book

‘Kansas City’s Historic Midtown Neighborhoods‘ as the starting point in documenting and sharing the history of each block of Midtown. Draper has a long career as a journalist, writer and editor, including 15 years as News Director for KCUR. Currently she is editor of the online news site the Midtown KC Post. The book is part of the Midtown Post’s Uncovering History project, a weekly focus on one block that invites the community to share history and memories as a way to build community.

The book grew out of Draper’s lifelong passion for neighborhoods and the buildings that make them unique. She is currently researching the Valentine neighborhood and Armour Boulevard areas.
