New program explores where arts and entrepreneurship intersect

(Kansas City, Mo.) – GUILDit, an opportunity for the Kansas City arts community to refine their art and business models, share their successes, increase their networks and build a stronger art economy has launched in Kansas City. Designed to further catalyze the already burgeoning Kansas City arts community, GUILDit occurs on the first and third Thursday of the each month from noon to 1p.m. at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, 4801 Rockhill Road in Kansas City, Mo.

The format is modeled after the popular 1 Million Cups events held at the Kauffman Foundation for business entrepreneurs but will focus solely on artists, makers, art organizations and art-related businesses who present specific aspects of their work and business models to the audience. These presentations are followed by question and answer sessions in which ideas are exchanged and connections are made, all focused around sharing ideas, resources and best business practices.

GUILDit founder SusanaB says there are many benefits to collaboration. “It’s an opportunity to not only share your work but to talk about your art business, give success strategies and resolve challenges. There is no other format like this, where artists and makers have the chance to connect with art and business leaders to make a stronger Kansas City art economy.”
